Cards from Kids Who Care

Thank you for visiting Cards from Kids. The cards you sponsor will be delivered on Christmas Eve to the residents of homeless shelters around the Bay Area, and the donations you make will go to provide services at those shelters. Please see below for more information about Cards from Kids and thank you for helping.

When donating by Paypal, please be sure to include in the memo your name, as you'd like it to appear on the card you sponsor, and the name of the family referring you to Card from Kids!

In December 2012, an 8-year-old girl named Pearl went to see a stage version of "A Christmas Carol" in San Francisco.  Leaving the theatre, she saw a man sleeping on the sidewalk on Geary Street and wanted to do something to help.  She had the idea to get together with her friends and make holiday cards to raise money for homeless shelters.

Pearl worked with four of her classmates to get friends and family to sponsor cards. For a donation of any amount, the sponsor's name would appear on a beautiful hand-made card, wishing hope and friendship to a person in need.  On an afternoon just before Christmas, Pearl and her friends gathered around a kitchen table and made fifty cards, representing donations in excess of one thousand dollars.  The money was donated to the Berkeley Food and Housing Project, doing great work for the homeless for more than forty years.  The cards were given to shelter residents at their Christmas Eve dinner, and were very warmly received.

This year, we aim to make an even larger donation in cards and money, to multiple Bay Area shelters.  Please consider giving.
